Cebu Daily News bags 3 media awards

MANILA, Philippines – Cebu Daily News, a member of the Inquirer Group of Companies, bagged three awards recently at the Philippine Press Institute’s 2013 Civic Journalism Press Awards.

Eileen Mangubat, CDN’s publisher and acting editor-in-chief, accepted the awards for Best Editorial page, Best in Photojournalism and the Coke Bayanihan, a special award for Best Reporting in Disasters.

The Visayan Daily Star was cited as Best in Business and Economic Reporting. Carla Gomez, the paper’s editor, accepted the award. Gomez is also correspondent of the Philippine Daily Inquirer’s Visayas Bureau.

PDI publisher Raul Pangalangan attended the May 1 event as a trustee of the PPI, which was also celebrating its 50th anniversary. The ceremonies were held at the Traders Hotel in Pasay City. Former President Fidel V. Ramos was guest speaker.
