MANILA, Philippines — The Nacionalista Party (NP) was unfazed by the recent Pulse Asia survey, showing some of its members lagging behind other possible candidates for president.
Senators Ferdinand “Bong-Bong” Marcos Jr. and Alan Peter Cayetano only ranked 6th and 7th, respectively, in the latest Pulse Asia survey conducted from March 19 to 26, 2014.
Both Marcos and Cayetano belong to the NP, but only Cayetano has openly expressed his desire to run for president in 2016.
“Napakaaga pa ho, two years pa…Marami pong nangyayari basta presidential elections from our experience, ” Senator Cynthia Villar said in an interview on Friday over DWIZ.
(It’s too early, two more years. A lot of things can still happen in presidential elections from our experience.)
Villar is the wife of former Senator Manny Villar, who heads the NP.
“Ok naman tayo d’yan (survey result), wala namang tayong probema,” she said.
(We’re ok with it, we have no problem with that)
“Sabi nga ni former Senator Villar, napakaaga pa. S’ya noong time na ‘yan, e number one din s’ya, pero natalo s’ya. So it’s very early,” the senator added.
(Like what former Senator Villar has said, it’s too early. He was also number one before, but he lost. So It’s very early)
The former senator ran and lost to now President Benigno Aquino III in 2010.
