34 persons arrested over cybersex operation in Naga

NAGA CITY, Philippines — Thirty four persons, five of them female, were rounded up in an establishment here early morning Thursday for operating an alleged cybersex den located in front of a university here.

Senior Superintendent Elmo Francis Sarona, chief of staff of the anti-cyber crime group in Camp Crame, said 34 workers were arrested and 73 computers were confiscated and documented.

Sarona said the police swooped down on the establishment named Digital Minds at about 1 a.m., armed with a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 8484 or Access Devises Regulation Act of 1998, and Republic Act 10175, “particularly on the maintenance of (a) cybersex (establishment).”

Sarona hinted on a series of other anti-cyber crime operations in Bicol but declined to give details.

He said they would be filing cases against the 34 workers they had arrested.

Lawyer Leila Mendoza, counsel of the owner of the establishment identified as Mark Laraca, said she asked the authorities on the process they took in raiding Digital Minds and based on that, she would act to protect the rights of her client.
