Worker loses foot after getting hit by train

MANILA, Philippines – A mason lost his right foot and injured the other after being hit by a Philippine National Railways (PNR) train, Radyo Inquirer 990AM said.

Max Padon, 43, was crossing the railroad at Antipolo Street, near Abad Santos Avenue when he was sideswiped by the train, the report said, quoting Tomas Mendoza, the victim’s co-worker.

Padon’s right foot was cut off while the left one was crushed. He was immediately rushed to the Ospital ng Tondo (Tondo Hospital).

The mason was working on a nearby riprap project under the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). Their operations were temporarily halted because of the accident.
