Fire hits apartment row in Malate, destroys P3M in properties
MANILA, Philippines—A fire that started in an apartment unit occupied by a barangay (village) councilor hit a residential area in Malate, Manila, Saturday, destroying some P3 million in property.
SFO3 John Joseph Jalique said the fire originated from the second floor of the two-story apartment rented by barangay councilor Lynda Salonga at 1992-J Angel Linao Street.
Twelve units of the residential apartment owned by Normita Mamuric were damaged by the fire.
The fire reached the first alarm at 7:26 a.m. and went up to Task Force Alpha at 7:51 a.m. before it was put out at 9:30 a.m.
Fire officers were still investigating what caused the fire, as of Saturday afternoon
