MANILA, Philippines—Interior and Local Secretary Mar Roxas on Friday said he accepted the decision of the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club to suspend his membership for two months after he allegedly berated some staff members over fees he refused to pay.

In a brief, three-paragraph statement, Roxas said he has been informed of the country club’s decision.

“I have already apologized for any infractions or hurt feelings as a result of this misunderstanding over the payment of green fees for nonplayers. It was not my intention to hurt or insult anyone, and I did not curse at anyone either. I repeat: It was not my intention to hurt anyone, and I especially did not curse at anyone,” Roxas said.

“I have been a member/player in Wack Wack for more than 20 years. I have had absolutely no record of misdemeanor or any inappropriate behavior in all these years. And during this long time, not once did I have a fight with or scolded anyone. In my heart, I do not want to destroy the good relations I have with the caddy, employees, and members of the Wack Wack family,” he added.
