Two brothers are facing parricide charges in San Juan City after the younger sibling allegedly killed his wife and the other helped him dump the body in Laguna province.
The city’s chief of police, Senior Supt. Joselito Daniel, said Jun and Billy dela Cruz were arrested Wednesday for the death of Gemma, Billy’s wife. The victim’s brother, Ronaldo Gonzales, told the police that he last saw Gemma with Billy in their house on J. Abad Santos Street in Little Baguio, San Juan, around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22.
He recalled seeing Billy carrying a weak-looking Gemma on his back toward their L300 van parked outside the house. Gemma was found dead around 11 a.m. the next day in Barangay Sabang, Magdalena, Laguna.
Authorities were able to locate the body based on information provided by Jun who, according to Daniel, admitted helping his brother dispose of the corpse. Jun was arrested at his residence in Almanza, Las Piñas City, Wednesday morning.
“We found the L300 van (at Jun’s house) and found bloodstains on the vehicle,” Daniel said. “At first he denied everything, but he finally confessed and showed us where the body was.”
Billy, who gave away his location in a phone call to Jun when the latter was already in police custody, was arrested later at their sister’s house in Pilar, Las Piñas, around 11 p.m.
An investigation showed that Billy killed Gemma because she wanted to leave him due to his drug addiction, and that the couple had another fight about it days before the killing.
Daniel said that based on Billy’s confession, he strangled his wife at their house and she also injured her mouth when she fell on the floor, hence the bloodstains on the van. Kristine Felisse Mangunay
