MANILA, Philippines – The gold earring with diamond that was snatched by robbers from the wife of former senator and now rehabilitation czar Panfilo Lacson was not real after all.

Lacson himself admitted this Wednesday when asked about his wife, Alice, whose diamond-studded gold earring,  was reportedly snatched while she was in Divisoria last April 14.

Lacson, who was chief of the Philippine National Police during the time of then President Joseph Estrada, said he only learned  about the incident on Facebook.

Sa Facebook ko nga nalaman e…”  he said in a radio interview.

(You know, in the first place,  she could not report to me because she knows that  I’ll get mad at her. She reported to someone, and then she was brought to a precinct where she was interviewed by the police and she got help. I  just only learned it on Facebook)

The former senator then phoned his wife and asked about the incident.

“Tinawagan ko, ano ‘yung nanakawan ka raw? …

Lacson added.

He said his wife told him that she just came from a doctor and that she just forgot to remove one of her earrings.

Paminsan-misan, ako naman yugn mataas ang boses,” he said in jest.
