Drilon: Napoles’ planned tell-all must not be used as smear campaign

MANILA, Philippines — Detained Janet Lim-Napoles’ reported plan to tell all on “pork barrel” scam should not be used as a “smear campaign,” Senate President Franklin Drilon said on Tuesday.

While he described Napoles’ reported plan to tell all as a “big development,” Drilon cautioned that her testimony on the scam might be used as a smear campaign.

“…Yan po ay talagang pag-ingatan naman natin na wag (maging) smear campaign if it’s going to happen,” he said in an interview over DWIZ.

Drilon, who has also been linked with Napoles after their picture together came out in public at the height of the pork scam, was unfazed by reports that Napoles might drag more names into the controversy.

“That’s guilty by litrato,” the Senate leader said in jest, referring to his picture with Napoles.

Napoles is the alleged mastermind of the P10-billion pork barrel scam.

She has been detained for serious illegal detention of former employee and now pork scam whistleblower Benhur Luy.
