CIC launches anniversary celebration
THE Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion, together with all the Daughters of Charity (DC) institutions in the country, launched the 150th anniversary celebration of the arrival of the DC sisters in the Philippines last July 22.
The event was marked with a mini musicale recounting the journey of the first 15 DC sisters and two Vincentian priests and a brother when they set forth from Spain in 1862.
The grade levels portrayed how the sisters went from one province to another taking on various charitable works and assignments.
The mini musicale was written and directed by Agnes Apalisok.
To commemorate the event, the DC sisters, together with the different sectors of the Vincentian community planted 150 native forest and fruit trees at the CIC campuses in Gorordo Avenue, Cebu City and Mandaue to symbolize the 150 years of their presence in the country.
A Mass was offered and the tree saplings were blessed before the actual tree planting. The one year celebration will culminate on July 22, 2012.
