Traffic starts to build up at toll plazas on Black Saturday

MANILA, Philippines – Vacationers took the opportunity to go back to Manila on Black Saturday as more vehicles lined up at major toll plazas before the Lenten break ends.

Hundreds of meters of vehicles were starting to line up at the toll plazas in the North and South Luzon Expressways, the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) said in its Twitter account.

Meanwhile, as of 2:30 p.m., the line of vehicles at the Dau toll plaza on the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) reached almost a kilometer-long already, the TRB added.

The line at the Bocaue toll plaza, meanwhile, only numbered around 20 vehicles, it added.

The TRB noted light traffic along the expressways on Black Saturday as holidaymakers get a headway back to Manila before the massive exodus starts on Sunday.

The heavy volume of vehicles caused heavy traffic along the expressways going to the provinces on Holy Wednesday and Maundy Thursday.
