100 families left homeless in Quezon City fire

MANILA, Philippines –At least 100 families were left homeless after a fire hit a village in Quezon city on Maundy Thursday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.

The fire broke out 4:43 a.m. at Barangay (village) Tatalon, UP Bicol Brigade street corner Kaliraya street, the NDRRMC said in its latest update.

Around 300 families were affected and 100 houses burned, it added.

The damage was estimated at P2 million but no casualties were reported, the NDDRMC said.

Meanwhile, two other fire incidents were reported by the NDRRMC on Maundy Thursday.

A fire hit a residential area in Barangay 17, Gingoog city, Misamis Oriental at 8:08 a.m. The fire burned four houses and affected four families. Police were looking at faulty electrical wiring as the cause of the blaze.

Meanwhile, a fire hit the municipal hall of Pantar, Lanao Del Norte at 1:45 a.m.

No one was reported hurt in both incidents.
