2 hurt as cop shoots fleeing robber in QC

Two women were hurt when the bullets fired by a policeman going after a robber broke their car’s windows on Tuesday afternoon in Quezon City. Imelda Cruz, 60 and Dianne Chavez, 24, suffered cuts during the incident at the corner of West and Quezon Avenues in Barangay West Triangle at 1:21 p.m. PO1 Dante Valdez of the Kamuning police station was part of a police team chasing a robber who had snatched the bag of a woman on the footbridge in the area. He tried to shoot the robber but the bullet hit the car being driven by Richard Cruz who was with his mother Imelda and Chavez. Student kills self

A 19-year-old student of the Ateneo de Manila University was found dead with a lone gunshot wound in the head inside his house in Quezon City.  The police said they were considering Brian Lawrence Go’s death a suicide since he left a note. However, Chief Insp. Rodelio Marcelo, head of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, declined to say what the victim wrote. Case investigator PO2 Julius Balbuena said that 9:11 a.m. on Monday, the victim’s sister found him in the bathroom, blood coming from a gunshot wound in the head. Julie M. Aurelio

Normal water supply during Holy Week

Manila Water, Metro Manila’s East Zone water service concessionaire, has assured customers that operations and services will remain normal during the Holy Week. “There will be no changes in water supply and availability in the coming weeks.  Our 6.3 million customers in the East Zone will continue to enjoy 24/7 water service,” said Manila Water spokesperson Jeric Sevilla.  He added, however, that their teams would be on hand in case there was a need for emergency repair. Manila Water provides water and used water services to the cities of Mandaluyong, Marikina, Pasig, San Juan, Taguig, Makati and Pateros town and parts of Quezon City, Manila and Rizal province.
