MANILA, Philippines—A former contractor for the maintenance of the Metro Rail Transit maintenance project denied involvement in the alleged attempt to extort $30million fund from Czech firm Inekon.

At the same time, Comm Builder Technology Philippines Corp. (CB & T) President Roehl “Boyett” Bacar, through counsel Jerusha Villanueva, questioned why Czech Ambassador to the Philippines Josef Rychtar was interested in the MRT project.

He said “the extraordinary interest of the ambassador even if it is part of his commercial function is overwhelmingly obvious as he would still insist even though the government has decided to bid out.”

Bacar on Monday went to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to give a statement on Rychtar’s allegation of extortion.

Justice Secretary Leila De Lima said Bacar was probably invited by the NBI to give more information about the alleged extort try.
