Senior Superintendent Jireh Omega Fidel, Batangas police director, said in a telephone interview the men had bullet wounds on their heads when they were found around 3 a.m. on a jeep that was parked on an isolated roadside in Barangay (village) Ticub in the town of Laurel.

Fidel said the police were was informed by a security officer of the municipal hospital that he was passing by the area on his way to work when he discovered the bodies inside the jeep with license plates DSL 353.

Police identified the bodies as those of Joebert Lincallo, Dante Mayuga, Manolito Cudra, Michael Palbacal and Exequel Marimat, all residents of Luksuhin Ibaba, Alfonso, Cavite.

Inspector Mary Torres, Batangas police information officer, said that investigators were still trying to locate witnesses because the crime scene was “very far” from the town center of Laurel.

She said Barangay Ticub is around five to six kilometers from the municipal hospital. The barangay road where the jeep was parked is a shortcut to Nasugbu, Batangas and Tagaytay, she added.

Police have yet to establish motive for the killings.
