Do’s and Don’ts during the Holy Week break

MANILA, Philippines–The Philippine National Police (PNP) gave last-minute reminders on Tuesday to keep the public secured and safe as the Holy Week exodus from Metro Manila begins.
Chief Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac, PNP Public Information Office chief, laid out the do’s and don’ts before, during, and after traveling during the Lenten break.

While the police assure the people that they will maintain heavy security over the Holy Week, Sindac asked the public to do also their part in protecting themselves from lawless elements.

1. Don’t leave any tell-tale signs or indicators that you will be away from home for a vacation.

2. Do not leave appliances unplugged, disconnect water and electricity connections.

3. If you can afford, install anti-burglary devices at home, such as Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV)

4. Before heading to transportation terminals, make sure you have all the travel documents (ticket, passport, identification card) needed.

5. Do not wear and flaunt expensive jewelry and accessories when traveling.

6. For motorists, condition yourself before heading for a long drive.

7. Make sure that the child lock function of your vehicle is working.

8. Lastly, pray.

Since last week, all PNP units have been placed under the heightened alert status.

Asked if there were looming threats on security this Holy Week, Sindac said the PNP has not monitored any security threats as of the moment.

“But the police will continue to monitor threats to security to minimize, if not totally avoid, anything that could harm the public,” he said
