MANILA, Philippines- Five of the country’s most wanted criminals have been arrested in less than week of simultaneous operations, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Friday.
Police said they arrested Rudy Bercasio De la Cruz, who has been charged with frustrated murder and homicide, in Barangay (village) Taboc in Julsan, Sorsogon last Tuesday.
On the same day, Maritess Inocencio was captured in Mariveles, Bataan for illegal possession of drugs or violation of Republic Act 9165.
Other most wanted criminals captured by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) operatives include Junel Vergara, number one most wanted in Masbate; Luis Antigo, eighth most wanted in Zambales, and Allan Peria, ninth most wanted in Region 5.
Police Chief Superintendent Benjamin Magalong of the CIDG said the arrest of the suspects is a “notable accomplishment” for the police.
“The CIDG teams give utmost importance and priority in the eradication of criminals and their illegal activities,” Magalong said.
He said the accused were arrested by virtue of warrant of arrests from different courts.
