Gasoline bomb at China bank kills, wounds dozens
BEIJING—Dozens of people were killed or hurt Friday when a person threw a gasoline bomb inside a bank in northwestern China, state media said.
The official Xinhua News Agency quoted a witness as saying he saw some people throw themselves out of a fourth-floor window after the person threw the bomb during an internal meeting at the bank at 9 a.m. (0100 GMT) in Tianzhu county in Gansu province.
Xinhua did not identify the witness. Calls to the area from The Associated Press rang unanswered or the recipients hung up.
Xinhua said the number of casualties was not immediately known. It quoted the witness as saying the injured, with visible burns, were carried out of the building on stretchers.
The county is an area of pasturelands stuck between deserts and mountains. About a third of the county’s 200,000 inhabitants are Tibetans.
