P118M worth of shabu seized from two marijuana-smoking men

MANILA, Philippines–Two Filipino-Chinese men smoking marijuana in a Manila street were arrested Tuesday afternoon while carrying two luggage containing 10 kilos of suspected shabu worth more than P100 million.

Superintendent Raymund Liguden, Meisic Police Station chief, told INQUIRER.net over the phone that‎ tipsters reported to the police the two unnamed men smoking weed along the corner of Felipe II and Meisic streets in Binondo.

“It’s as if they were waiting for somebody near the entrance of 168 Mall while smoking marijuana,” Liguden said.

As the police accosted the two, they were brought to the Meisic police station including the luggage they were carrying.

“We inspected their bags and found that it contained ‎at least 10 kilos of suspected shabu,” the police official added.

Liguden said the 10-kilogram shabu, or methamphetamine hydrochloride, is worth an estimate of P118 million.

He added that the suspected drugs been brought to the laboratory for verification.
