Napoles admitted to Makati hospital for treatment

MANILA, Philippines—The convoy transporting Janet Lim-Napoles, the alleged brains behind the pork barrel scam, arrived in the Ospital ng Makati at 10:15 p.m. Monday.

Napoles was scheduled to get a hospital treatment for her uterine cyst at the Makati hospital after Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 150 Judge Elmo Alameda had granted her motion to undergo surgery and hospital confinement, but not in the hospital of her choice.

Napoles, who is detained at Fort Sto. Domingo in Santa Rosa, Laguna, for serious illegal detention charges filed by her cousin and former employee Benhur Luy.

Radio reports said Napoles, accompanied by an eight to 10-vehicle convoy, left Fort Sto. Domingo at 9:30 p.m.

Alameda, in his ruling, granted the motion of the Napoles’ camp to allow her to have her cyst in the uterus removed for “humanitarian reasons” and based on earlier recommendations made in court by Philippine National Police doctor Michelle Daguno and Santiago A. del Rosario, head of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the Makati Medical Center.

Napoles has been complaining of profuse menstrual bleeding and excruciating abdominal pain, her lawyers said.
