Help sought for Calumpit girl with hydrocephalus

The family of Gillian Gonzales, a 10-year-old girl from Calumpit, Bulacan province, is appealing for help as she needs medication and surgery for hydrocephalus, a condition she has been suffering since she was three months old.

An operation is urgently needed due to the accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid in her brain cavities.

Gillian is the youngest of four children of Lolito Gonzales, a tricycle driver, and Gina, a housewife, of B-30, L-37 Northville 9 Iba O’Este.

After undergoing a BP shunting operation once at Philippine General Hospital, the child needs follow-up procedures to finally live a normal life.

“Just recently, for three weeks, she had a vomiting fit. It temporarily stopped after she took medicines and we were told to go back (to the hospital) on April 11 to determine the cause of the vomiting,” Gina said.
