MANILA, Philippines—A truck driver and his helper were arrested on Tuesday for selling more than 200 pieces of dressed chicken they were supposed to return to a Tarlac plant after these were rejected by a client.

Darwin Bulado, a 35-year-old truck driver and helper Nero Cunanan, 30, both of San Fernando City, Pampanga, were charged with qualified theft for taking 263 Magnolia dressed chickens worth P32,500. They were later ordered released for further investigation by the inquest prosecutor.

Anonas police station commander Supt. Richard Fiesta said the two men were tasked on Monday to deliver 1,965 dressed chickens from a plant in Barangay (village) Balas, Concepcion, Tarlac, to a Baliwag Lechon Manok branch in Pasig City.

The client, however, rejected 263 chickens which the suspects sold to people living in Barangay Teachers Village, Quezon City.—Julie M. Aurelio
