General Santos City—The city government will give a hero’s welcome to Miss Universe third runner-up Shamcey Supsup when she returns home anytime soon.
“Definitely, there will be a hero’s welcome for Shamcey when she returns home,” Mayor Darlene Antonino-Custodio said.
But the mayor could not yet give details of the hero’s welcome, saying they still have to meet to plan it out.
Shamcey’s father, Timoteo, said his family would hold a party for Shamcey, but also could not give details.
“I’m still waiting for a call from my wife and daughter then we will plan what we will do during her homecoming,” Timoteo told reporters here.
Earlier this year, the city government held a grand homecoming party for Shamcey when she bagged the Binibining Pilipinas-Universe title.
She was met at the airport by local officials led by the mayor and was toured around the city’s main thoroughfares on a specially-designed float.
Custodio said Shamcey deserves a tribute for bringing honor not just for her family and the city but to the country as a whole.
Shamcey virtually took the city by storm during her homecoming in April matched only, in terms of crowd attendance, fervor and craze, by boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao.
Shamcey then said pursuing further education, not love affair, was her top priority.
