MANILA, Philippines—Janet Lim-Napoles, the alleged mastermind of the “pork barrel” scam, may have one thorn taken away from her as doctors of the Ospital ng Makati said that her surgery may happen this coming weekend.
In a media briefing, Dr. Perry Ishmael Peralta, Ospital ng Makati Medical Director, said that once the medical teams of the Ospital ng Makati and the St. Luke’s Medical Center reached a consensus on the operations, Napoles may go under the knife on the weekend.
“The surgeons are likely to review the case again, and there should be a consensus between the medical team of Napoles (from St. Luke’s) and the doctors of Ospital ng Makati,” Peralta said Thursday afternoon.
“I already mentioned if they want to make the surgery on the upcoming weekend, we will do the surgery if we arrive at that consensus.”
Peralta said that all other standard procedures and diagnostic tests were done for the preparation of the removal of the cyst on Napoles’ uterus.
He added that there’s no reason to fret as their team at the Ospital ng Makati, consisting of an endocrinologist, anaesthesiologist, pathologist, and a gynaecologist, are taking “appropriate medical care” of Napoles.
Peralta also drafted a 26-day timetable of Napoles’ health, which could go smoothly if the PDAF queen does not incur any complications.
“If there are no complications, we can give a timeline of more or less than 26 days that is for the patient who does not have any problems and recovers very early after the surgery,” Peralta said.
