The National Commission for Culture and the Arts, which holds office in Intramuros, Manila, was created through Republic Act No. 7356 signed on April 3, 1992. The NCCA logo is called the “Alab ng Haraya” (The Flame of Imagination), which shows flames on a three-tiered censer. The flames are in the shape of a stylized letter K in the Philippine indigenous script which stands for kadakilaan, or greatness, and represents the highest level of imagination. The three tiers stand for organization, economic support and an orientation rooted in a thorough grasp of tradition and history, which the NCCA provides.—Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
