Garbage bag yields man’s body in Mandaluyong

MANILA, Philippines—A day after the lifeless body of a man was found in Mandaluyong City, another one was found in nearby San Juan City.

According to a police report, the victim was found at the corner of Barcelona and Guevara Streets in Barangay (village) Maytunas. San Juan police chief Senior Supt. Joselito Daniel said the garbage bag which had been wrapped in packaging tape was discovered at 6:45 a.m. by a resident who called authorities.

Daniel said the victim who has yet to be identified was about 5’ 2” in height and dressed in a white sleeveless shirt and dark blue shorts. The word “Jesus” was tattooed on his chest and there was another tattoo of a dolphin on his left arm. There were other tattoos on his right knee which read “Ina ko” and “Plaza del Carmen Mexico” and “Labuyo” on his back.

The victim’s body bore no gunshot wounds although there were marks around his neck while a belt was found inside the garbage bag. “It’s possible [he] committed suicide but there is also a possibility that he was killed,” Daniel said. For now, the incident remains under investigation.

The police report said the body was taken to Pacific Funeral Homes in Mandaluyong City for an autopsy. On Monday, the body of a man with a gunshot wound in the head was found inside a garbage bag on Madison Street in Barangay Ilaya.—Kristine Felisse Mangunay
