Aquino commends distinguished cops; Capa left out

MANILA, Philippines–For their “heroic acts” during the Zamboanga crisis, recent disasters and various police operations, 37 policemen were honored by President Benigno Aquino III on Tuesday.
The police awardees were given medals of recognition for their exemplary service at the Araw ng Parangal sa Kapulisan in Camp Crame by Aquino, Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas II, and Director General Alan Purisima, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief.
Deputy Director General Felipe Rojas, Jr., PNP Deputy Chief of Administration, was awarded with the PNP Special Service medal or the “Medalya ng Pambihirang Paglilingkod” along with National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Carmelo Valmoria.
Members of the Task Force Tugis, a special team tasked to hunt down country’s top fugitives, whose recent operation was the arrest of Real Estate developer Delfin Lee, were also honored except its former chief.
TF Tugis head and relieved Senior Superintendent Conrad Capa, was not given any recognition for successfully arresting Lee.
