Girl with Stage 4 cancer needs to undergo chemo
MANILA, Philippines—Despite being diagnosed with Stage 4 bone cancer in 2011, Judellene Marie Naparate never thought about giving up her studies.
On March 20, the 12-year-old girl completed her elementary education, earning a diploma from a special school at Philippine General Hospital.
However, her mother, Judith, said that Judelle would have to forego her studies this coming school year.
“I know she will not like it but according to her doctors, she will be under close observation so she has to stop going to school for five years,” she told the Inquirer.
Right now, Judelle, who her mother said has kept a positive spirit despite her illness, needs to undergo two more chemotherapy sessions in addition to tests such as an MRI, CT scan and bone scan which will cost the family at least P125,000.
