SAN PEDRO CITY, Philippines—Janet Lim Napoles was taken late evening Monday to the Ospital ng Makati where she will be placed under hospital confinement.

A police source, who refused to be identified for lack of authority to speak on the transfer of Napoles, confirmed to the Inquirer that the convoy left Fort Sto. Domingo in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna,  past 9 p.m..

Asked whether she had to be transported on a stretcher, the police official said, “Hindi naman (No).”

The source explained in a phone interview that “it’s a normal procedure” to run a checkup on Napoles’ condition, for instance by taking her blood pressure, to make sure she was fine before she left her detention center.

On whether the police saw any security risk in transporting the alleged brains of a P10-billion pork barrel scam during nighttime, the source said, “Not really. It just happened to be a convenient time to avoid traffic jam.”

The Makati Regional Trial Court last week granted the plea of Napoles to undergo a surgery to remove a uterine cyst but the court ordered that it be done in a state hospital.
