2 men rob salon workers of P150,000 in gadgets, cash

MANILA, Philippines—Acting as though they wanted to have some warts removed, two men sat and waited at the reception area of a Quezon City salon before declaring a holdup and making off with some P150,000 in cash and valuables, police said Saturday.

Police said four employees of the YSA Skin Care Clinic in Barangay Bahay Toro lost eight cellphones worth P89,000, two iPads worth P44,000, an Acer netbook worth P8,500, P8,500 in cash, several ATM cards, IDs, keys and documents in last Thursday’s robbery.

Case investigator PO3 Al Ponferrada of the Talipapa police station said the robbers entered the establishment at the corner of Mindanao Avenue and Road 20 around 4:45 p.m.

Approaching skin care adviser Jocelyn Valdezco, 29, they asked how much it would cost to have their warts removed or cauterized.

The men then sat down at the waiting area while Valdezco showed them the price list of the skin care clinic’s services.

Without warning, the robbers pulled out handguns and announced the heist.

After seizing the employees’ valuables, the robbers walked out of the clinic and then ran away.
