MANILA, Philippines—Justice Secretary Leila De Lima said she has no problem with the Makati City Regional Trial Court’s (RTC) decision allowing Janet Lim Napoles to undergo surgery.

“Provided such hospital confinement is only for a very limited duration i.e. only for the duration of the surgery and needed recovery and provided that a government doctor monitors the same, I guess that is acceptable,” De Lima told reporters in a text message.

The Makati RTC, however, did not grant Napoles’ request that she undergo medical treatment at St. Luke’s Global City. Instead, she will be having her surgery in the state-owned Ospital ng Makati.
