MANILA, Philippines–Expect heavier traffic this “payday Friday” until over the weekend as road reblocking and repairs resume along Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (Edsa).
In its latest advisory, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) advised motorists to change routes along Edsa, particularly in the cities of Quezon City, Mandaluyong and Makati.
This as the Department of Public Works and Highways conducts the weekend road reblocking and repairs on EDSA.
In a previous INQUIRER.net report, the MMDA said road reblocking and repair projects on the country’s longest highway will be only until Holy Week, from April 17 to April 19.
The road works that will start on Friday at 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. on March 31, Monday will be done in the following areas:
- Along Kamuning road between T. Gener and Judge Jimenez (first lane) in Quezon City
- Along Edsa between Shaw Boulevard and Julia Vargas (Northbound, outer lane) in Mandaluyong City
- Along Edsa between Ayala Avenue and Guadalupe Bridge (Northbound, first lane) in Makati City
“All roads will be fully passable by Monday morning,” it added.
Meanwhile, it also advised motorists to take alternate routes as some portions of Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City were closed to give way for the Iglesia Ni Cristo’s evangelical mission.
A part of Commonwealth Avenue, from Sandiganbayan to Litex Road, was closed earlier 12 a.m. The road closure will be until 10 p.m.
