Royette Padilla ordered freed

ANGELES CITY, Philippines—A court here on Tuesday ordered the release of former actor Royette Padilla after he posted P12,000 bail in a case of grave threats and violation of the antichild abuse law.

Padilla, 51, was arrested by Clark Development Corp. public safety personnel and city policemen on Saturday after his neighbors accused him of firing his gun at their house in Redwood Villas inside the Clark Freeport.

The order, addressed to the head of the city police’s Station 4 here, was issued by Judge Ma. Arabella Eusebio-Rodolfo of the municipal trial court of Clark Field.

In their sworn statements to the police, complainants Efren David, 64; Evelyn Bernardo, 34; and their daughters, aged 8 and 11, said they were inside their house with a helper when Padilla fired his gun twice.

They said the screen door of their house was damaged by a bullet from the gun fired by Padilla.

Padilla, however, denied the allegation and insisted that he did not fire a gun.

Bernardo said she was preparing food in the kitchen with her daughters at 5:40 p.m. on Saturday when Padilla, who was on the other side of the fence, started talking to her.

Bernardo said she ignored Padilla because she was afraid to talk to him.

Police said this apparently angered Padilla who supposedly told Bernardo that he would place her inside a sack. Jun Malig,
