MANILA, Philippines–The easterlies, or winds from the east that bring warm weather, are affecting the eastern section of the country, the state weather bureau said on Thursday.

During dry season or summer, the easterlies are the prevailing weather system. On Wednesday, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) declared the termination of the northeast monsoon, which brought cool weather the past few months.

Pagasa also declared the start of dry season. The hottest temperature on Wednesday was 34.2 degrees Celsius at 1:50p.m.

The entire archipelago will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly over the eastern section, Pagasa said.

Moderate to occasionally strong winds from the east will prevail over the eastern section of the country and the coastal waters along this area will be moderate to occasionally rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate seas.
