MANILA, Philippines—A 46-year-old contractor was found dead in his condominium unit in San Juan City late Sunday afternoon.

Senior Supt. Joselito Daniel, the city’s chief of police, identified the fatality as Gerry Athoy Angeles.

Angeles’ lifeless body was found around 5 p.m. in a bathroom in his condominium unit on Eisenhower St.

Based on initial investigation, he was last seen around 12 noon by Normita Arellano, 43, a housemaid in the unit.

Arellano told the police she was about to use the bathroom around 2 p.m., but turned around upon noticing that someone was already inside.

After another three hours, Daniel said Arellano returned “for personal necessity” but the bathroom was still “occupied,” with its door closed.

“The (housemaid) opened the door of the (bathroom) and discovered the lifeless body of the victim,” Daniel said.

A call was made to the city’s emergency response team, which declared the victim dead.

Police are still investigating the death.

According to Daniel, the victim was separated from his wife.
