Over 1,000 stranded in Central Visayas ports due to ‘Caloy’

MANILA, Philippines— More than 1, 000 passengers were stranded  Saturday in Central Visyas  due to tropical depression “Caloy,” the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.

Thirty-three vessels and one motor banca was stranded  in the ports of Visayas, it said.

The PCG said its units had been placed on heightened alert “to respond to any emergency situation.”

The Department of Transportation and Communication  (DOTC), meanwhile said, four flights of Cebu Pacific had been cancelled.

The cancelled flights included:

Early Saturday, tropical depression “Caloy” made its landfall over Tandag City, Surigao del Sur while 11 provinces are still hoisted under Signal Number 1 ,  the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Atronomical Services Administration.
