QC dads okay P54 million for road repairs, landmarks

The Quezon City council has approved the allocation of around P54 million for the restoration of typhoon-damaged roads and the installation of landmarks for schools, public markets, and city streets.

Two resolutions approved on final reading Monday authorized Mayor Herbert Bautista to enter into contracts with winning bidders who could supply construction materials.

One resolution sought a P37.4 million budget for about 100 streets damaged by Typhoon “Maring” and the habagat (monsoon rains) last year. Among the specified areas needing repairs are the flood-prone barangays of Payatas, Bagong Silangan, Batasan Hills, and Holy Spirit.

The other resolution set P16.8 million for “proper land or street markings” for schools, major thoroughfares and public markets, among others. The city is host to over 300 schools, colleges and universities; 11 public markets; and over 100 churches. Jeannette I. Andrade
