Guard kills woman in hostage-taking in Ilocos Norte town mayor’s house
CURRIMAO, Ilocos Norte, Philippines—A woman was stabbed dead on Friday afternoon by a security guard who held hostage six people briefly inside the home of Mayor Gladys Go Que here.
Police said Jose Ragudon, guard of Go Que’s family for three years, had a quarrel with the mayor’s secretary, Nancy Cacayorin, 53, about 4:30 p.m.
Armed with a knife, Ragudon lost control of himself during the confrontation and stabbed Cacayorin, police said.
Cacayorin, a resident of Barangay Surgi in Paoay town, died on the spot from four stab wounds, police said.
Ragudon surrendered to the police after more than 30 minutes of negotiation. Go Que, who was in the house, was reported to have sought refuge at a nearby church while the police negotiated.
