MANILA,Philippines – Detained busineswoman Janet Lim-Napoles was rushed to the Ospital ng Makati in Pembo on Friday for an emergency check-up due to abdominal pain.

Napoles was rushed to the hospital after her hearing for surgery and hospitalization before Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 150 on Friday.

The court did not object to a Philippine National Police doctor’s recommendation that Napoles be allowed for a check-up in the hospital.

Napoles was teary-eyed when she personally appeared before the court. Radio reports also described her as clutching her stomach as if in pain.

“Nahihirapan na po ako (I am suffering),” she told Makati regional trial court 150 judge Elmo Alameda.

Napoles claims to be suffering from heavy menstrual bleeding. One of her doctors said if left untreated, her condition could lead to cancer.

Among the hospitals Alameda suggested were Southern Luzon Hospital, Philippine General Hospital, and Ospital ng Makati in Pembo, Makati, Ruel Perez reported in Inquirer Radio 990 AM.

Napoles faces plunder charges over the elaborate pork barrel scam, where billions of discretionary funds were funneled to Napoles’ questionable non-government organizations.

She is currently detained at the Fort Sto. Domingo in Sta. Rosa, Laguna over a serious illegal detention charge.

The court is expected to relase its decision this afternoon whether it would allow Napoles for medical surgey and hospital confinement.
