MANILA, Philippines–Helena Belmonte, a 28-year-old Filipino-American model, died after allegedly jumping off the 28th floor of Renaissance Tower 1000 in Barangay (Village) Ugong around 1:30 a.m Thursday.
Belmonte was found sprawled on the exhaust vent of an air-conditioning unit at the seventh floor of the tower.
Senior Superintendent Mario Rariza, Pasig City Police chief, told INQUIRER.net that Belmonte allegedly committed suicide.
Media reports said Belmonte left a suicide note on the scene.
But Rariza said the police are still conducting an investigation.
Prior to the incident, the socialite model had a drinking session with her boyfriend and friends.
Police said Belmonte’s boyfriend admitted that they had a misunderstanding days before her alleged suicide.
