MMDA: Expect heavier traffic this weekend
MANILA, Philippines–Motorists were advised Thursday to expect worse-than-usual traffic this weekend in some portions of Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA).
In its latest advisory, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will conduct road repairs and reblocking until Monday.
Starting 10 p.m. Friday, the repairs will last until Monday at 5 a.m. in the following areas:
*along Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) between Caloocan and Quezon City boundary and F. Aguilar Street (lane 4), between Malvar Street and Arellano Street (lane 4), between Concepcion Street and Gen. Tinio Street (lane 3), all Northbound in Caloocan City
*along Kamuning Road between Scout Ybardolaza Street and Scout Torillo Street (first lane) in Quezon City
Article continues after this advertisementDue to traffic congestion in the said areas, motorists were also suggested to take alternate routes.
Article continues after this advertisement“All roads will be fully passable by Monday morning,” it added.
MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said the weekend re-blocking, which would cause heavy traffic in its target areas, would only last until Holy Week, which would start from April 17 to April 20.
The so-called “Mega Road Repairs” on Edsa targets at least 30,000 square meter portion of the highway from Roxas Boulevard in Manila to the Bonifacio Monument in Caloocan City.
