MANILA, Philippines—The chief of the traffic unit in Cagayan de Oro and his subordinate were arrested by their colleagues for allegedly extorting thousands of pesos from several persons.

‎Superintendent Michael John Deloso, CDO Police Traffic unit chief, and his staff Police Officer 3 Ernesto Galleto were arrested Monday afternoon while their alleged victims hand them two envelopes inside a hotel.
‎Reports from the CDO police said Wednesday that in an entrapment operation by the police and regional National Bureau of Investigation, Galleto and Deloso were caught extorting money worth P6,000 from ‎unnamed victims.
Police said the arrested officers have been immediately relieved from their posts and will face administrative cases.
Chief Superintendent Isagani Genabe Jr., Northern Mindanao Regional Police Office regional director,‎ said Deloso and Galleto would be punished accordingly so as not to affect the integrity of the police.
“PSupt. Deloso and PO3 Galleto committed an illegal activity that is something not to emulate in the PNP,” Genabe said.
