MANILA, Philippines–For policemen to better understand protocol in conducting operations, the Philippine National Police Operational Procedures (POP) manual in English will be translated in Filipino and in other dialects.
Speaking to reporters at the presentation of revised POP manual in Camp Crame Thursday, Director General Alan Purisima, PNP chief, said he ordered officers in all regions to start implementing the changes in their areas of jurisdiction.
In previous versions of POP, Purisima said there were terms and words in the manual that some policemen either misinterpreted or failed to understand.
“We have detailed the operational procedures step by step that actually, it more like an idiot’s guide (to police operations),” he said.
Asked what other notable revisions PNP made in the manual, the PNP chief said guidelines in preserving the crime scene were made stricter in the latest POP edition.
