CEBU CITY–Firefighters in Cebu City are trying to control the blaze that hit a densely populated village here shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Officials of Barangay (village) Lorega San Miguel said the fire has burned down several houses in at least four sitios (sub-villages).

Radio reports showed that some firetrucks ran out of water supply because they came from another firefighting operation in Barangay Casuntingan, Mandaue City past 3 p.m.

Firetrucks had to leave the fire scene to refill in the different hydrants in the city.

Senior Fire Officer 3 Fernando Ouano of the Cebu City Fire Department said the fire alarm was received at 4:57 p.m. and was now raised to general alarm –which means that other fire departments from nearby localities were also helping now.
