CAVITE, Philippines—A fisherman who was reported missing along with several others was found dead when search and rescue operations resumed on Friday to locate them after their fishing boat sank off Ternate town shortly before midnight on Wednesday.

Of the 11 who originally went missing after the sinking of the FB Dan Israel L., the body of a crew member, identified as Jojo Sumbill, was found floating in the water near the site of the sinking at past 4 p.m. on Thursday, PO3 Judito Baligod of the Ternate police said in a phone interview.

The fishing boat carrying 23 people sank in the sea between Ternate, Cavite and Caballo Island near Corregidor Island after it was hit by a larger vessel around 11 p.m. on Wednesday.

Baligod said the larger vessel, which did not stop, has yet to be identified. Maricar Cinco, Inquirer Southern Luzon
