Bus operators set Makati-SLEX motorcade vs 12% VAT on toll fees Thursday; traffic expected
MANILA, Philippines – Expect bumper to bumper traffic from Makati to South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) on Thursday, Ruel Perez of 990 AM reported Wednesday.
Bus operators will be staging a protest against the imposition of the 12-percent value added tax (VAT) on toll fees and the rally is expected to cause traffic, the report said.
Josephine Ladrillono, executive secretary of Southern Luzon Bus Operators Association (SOLUBOA), was quoted in the report as saying that around 2,000 of their members and other private groups would be joining the motorcade that would start at Magallanes in Makati City at 10 a.m. and then move to SLEX, all the way to the Calamba exit and then back to Makati, the report said.
The group is also considering going to North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) if they would be allowed, said the report.
On October 1, a 12-percent increase in toll fees will be implemented in NLEX and SLEX.
