Today, March 13, is the 13th death anniversary of National Scientist Encarnacion Alzona. Born on March 25, 1895, Alzona was known as a historian, professor, patriot and supporter of women’s suffrage. She was conferred the title of National Scientist by President Ferdinand Marcos in 1985. She died in 2001 at the age of 105. Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
