4 kidnap victims freed in Sulu

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines—Four kidnap victims were freed after nine days in captivity in Jolo, Sulu on Wednesday afternoon, the military said.

Freed were Mohamad Zaer Jajurie, Alyza Farah Jajurie, housemaid Almalyn Abuhail and driver Saddam Amlih, according to Captain Maria Rowena Muyuela, spokesman of the Western Mindanao Command.

Mohamad is a son of Dr. Faranazh Jajurie, municipal health officer of Jolo. Alyza is a niece of the physician.

The victims, along with were kidnapped on March 3.

The Jajuries were freed in the village of Latih in Patikul town at around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

It was not clear if ransom was paid in exchange for the release of the victims.
