Did you know: National Fire Prevention Month

By virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 115-A signed in 1966 by President Ferdinand Marcos, the month of March was declared National Fire Prevention Month. In 2013, a total of 12,301 fires were recorded nationwide, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection. The figure was around 40 percent higher than the recorded 8,798 fires in 2012.—Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
