MANILA, Philippines – Most of Luzon and the Visayas will enjoy fair and sunny weather this week, except for cloudy skies up north and isolated rains in the eastern parts, the state weather bureau said Saturday.

A cold front is seen forming in extreme northern Luzon, bringing cloudy skies and light rains over the region, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

“Visayas and the rest of Luzon will have fair weather conditions aside from some isolated light rains while Mindanao will will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms,” the weather bureau said in its weekly advisory.

By Monday, Eastern Visayas and the regions of Caraga and Davao will be cloudy with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms, Pagasa said.

Luzon and the rest of Visayas will continue to experience generally fair weather, but isolated light rains particularly over the eastern section will be experienced in some parts, it said.

From March 11 to 14, there will be good weather conditions over Luzon and Visayas, while Mindanao will continue to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with afternoon or evening rain showers or thunderstorms.

“Relatively warmer days are also expected on most parts of the country and no tropical cyclone is expected throughout the outlook period,” Pagasa said.

The northeast monsoon, which ushers in cold winds from Siberia, continues to be the dominant weather system affecting Luzon and the Visayas.

Pagasa expects to declare the official start of summer in the third week of March when warm, moist easterly winds from the Pacific Ocean become the dominant weather system.
